Dawah Beyond Borders: Maldives Delegation Visits IDT to Explore Strategic Collaboration
IDT's Bulletin | Team IDT | 19 July 2025

WANGSA MAJU, 18 July 2025 – Last Friday, the Interactive Dakwah and Tarbiyah (IDT) welcomed a special five-member delegation from the Maldives Island Council and Dawah Team — a significant step towards building international bridges in the field of da’wah.
Held at IDT’s headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, this official visit was more than just a courtesy call. It was a heartfelt exchange of ideas, experiences, and aspirations, all centred around one shared mission: spreading the message of Islam with wisdom, sincerity, and strategic excellence.
Dawah in the Maldives: Beautiful Islands, Untapped Oppotunities
The delegation shared the current realities of da’wah on Maafushi Island, one of the most visited local islands in the Maldives. Despite its popularity among international tourists, structured Islamic outreach there remains limited.
In response to this gap, the team is now exploring the concept of “Mosque Tours” — an inviting and informative experience designed to introduce non-Muslim visitors to Islam in a respectful, non-confrontational way. These tours aim to present the beauty of the faith through the lens of hospitality, culture, and clear understanding.
A Glimpse into IDT's Work: Structure, Substance & Strategy
During the visit, the delegation met with Brother Lim Jooi Soon, President of IDT, who offered a comprehensive overview of the organisation’s vision and approach. He highlighted how IDT focuses not just on outreach to non-Muslims, but also on long-term support for new Muslims through carefully structured educational programs.
Some of IDT’s core initiatives include:
Weekly New Muslim Classes – conducted in Bahasa Malaysia, Mandarin, and English
Field Dakwah in Public Spaces – engaging respectfully in places like parks, markets, and tourist hubs
DawahPro Global – an international da’wah training program that has trained hundreds of da’ies from around the world since 2022

Looking Forward: Partnership on the Horizon
Impressed by IDT’s approach, the Maldives delegation expressed a desire to invite Brother Lim to the Maldives to further explore collaboration, particularly in developing a localised da’wah framework that suits the Maldivian context.
Potential areas for future collaboration include:
- Developing a structured mosque tour model for tourist areas
- Training local da'ies using IDT's modules and methodology
- Collaborating on curricullum development for da'wah education
This dialogue marks what we hope will be the start of a productive, long-term partnership. It will enable both parties to share knowledge, support each other, and strengthen global da’wah efforts.
Our Dua and Aspiration
May Allah make this the start of meaningful cooperation between the da’wah community in Malaysia and the Maldives. We pray that through wisdom, compassion, and professionalism, Islam continues to be shared in a way that touches hearts and transforms lives.
"Indeed, this responsibility belongs to all of us." - Brother Lim Jooi Soon
