Forum Wacana Mualaf – Mengapa Hati Ini Tertarik Kepada Islam
WANGSA MAJU, 12 September 2026 – Alhamdulillah, Interactive Dakwah & Tarbiyah (IDT) organised the Muallaf Forum, themed “Mengapa Hati Ini Tertarik Kepada Islam?”, at Dawah Academy International. Held from 8:30 PM to 10:30 PM, the forum received a very good response, with 73 participants filling the hall and creating a lively atmosphere throughout the evening.
The forum featured sharing on the experience of discovering Islam and what leads someone to choose Islam as a way of life. Various experiences were shared, including questions that led to a search for answers, life experiences that opened the heart to Islam, as well as the challenges faced after embracing Islam. Each story was different and gave participants an opportunity to better understand Islam through the personal experiences of others.
The forum was moderated by Ustaz Mohd Sahifuddin bin Abdullah, while the main sharing was delivered by Sister Angeline Tan, a muallaf and television personality. In line with the theme, she shared her personal experience of discovering Islam, what drew her heart towards Islam and the challenges she faced after embracing the faith.
During her sharing, Sister Angeline Tan spoke about her experiences before and after embracing Islam. She also shared about the challenges she faced with her family and the process of adjusting to life as a Muslim. As a television personality, she also spoke about navigating the challenges of maintaining her faith while continuing her career and life in the public eye.
Her sharing also highlighted that choosing Islam is only the beginning of a new chapter, where there is still much to learn and understand. Building a life as a Muslim comes with its own questions, adjustments and challenges. For those going through a similar experience, her story offered a reminder that everyone has a different experience after embracing Islam.
Besides the sharing and forum session, participants also enjoyed various food served that evening. Pizza and fried kuey teow were among the main dishes, along with various potluck items brought by participants, including pudding, cakes and traditional kuih. Sharing a meal together also gave participants the opportunity to get to know one another, chat and exchange experiences in a more relaxed setting.
Alhamdulillah, the Muallaf Forum was not only about how someone came to embrace Islam, but also about what comes after that decision. Sister Angeline Tan’s sharing highlighted that everyone has a different background and reason for discovering Islam, and each journey comes with its own challenges.
For IDT, sharing experiences like this is important in helping the community better understand the experiences and challenges faced by muallafs. May the Muallaf Forum continue to benefit those who attended, and may programmes like this continue with more sharing that helps us understand Islam better and appreciate the blessing of faith.
